November: A Month of Restoration and Reflection

In this post I discuss the Hebraic month of Cheshvahn and ways that you can grab ahold of God's prophetic releases of the month

PROPHETIC WORD

As we settle into the season of fall, God has so much in store practically brimming at the seams. In this article, I’m going to show you how to grab hold of the prophetic releases within the month of November and how you can partner with God to reflect and become restored.

Though the world follows the Gregorian calendar, God’s calendar holds prophetic mysteries embedded within each month. The great thing is, you don’t have to be Jewish to follow this calendar—just a believer who wants to understand the depth of how God moves throughout His own times and seasons.

Cheshvan

The Hebrew month of Cheshvan is a time of reflection and healing. It is also a reset season, where God is metaphorically shutting us in the ark and doing away with the things that have plagued us. In Scripture, this is the month in which Noah was instructed to go into the ark and was “shut in” by the Lord.

“And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in.”
— Genesis 7:15–16 (NKJV)

In the spirit, the Lord is allowing the rains and waters of His Spirit not only to refresh us but also to drown out the past torments and wickedness caused by the enemy. The key is allowing Him to shut us in—a posture of prayer—so He can work on the inner rooms of our hearts.

“Shut In”

When rereading the account of Noah, the Holy Spirit highlighted the meaning of this phrase in Hebrew.

According to the Blue Letter Bible (n.d.), the words “shut in” in the Hebrew concordance translate as “Sagar” (Strong’s H5462).

Sagar:
To shut up (figuratively), to surrender, repair, enclose, and give over.

As we surrender before God and willingly give ourselves over, He repairs the broken places, heals wounds from the past, and makes us fresh and renewed.

Although the enemy’s tactic is to get us to focus on darkness, torment, and oppression—God is doing the opposite.

Drowning the Mountains

Another prophetic mystery that the Lord revealed within Genesis 7 is a small but powerful detail about the height of the waters upon the earth:

“As the waters rose higher and higher above the ground, the boat floated safely on the surface. Finally, the water covered even the highest mountains on the earth.”
— Genesis 7:18–19 (NLT)

God made the waters rise higher than the highest peaks which drowned out the high places erected to the enemy on the earth. I prophesy right now that the Lord is destroying those difficult areas, those challenges that once seemed out of reach, in His presence. He is washing away the mountains of difficulty with the waters of His Spirit.

The key is to get in His presence—letting His Spirit purify the areas in our souls that need to be cleansed and allowing Him to fight any battle that is too great for us. Like Noah, we must let God shut us into a mode of prayer and work on our inner man.

The Revelation Hidden in Reflection

When I go into prayer, I almost always have a journal with me. The other day, the Lord expressed how much he longed for me to begin handwriting my revelations and reflections in prayer. Journaling allows you to release what is on the forefront of your mind, but also lets the Holy Spirit come upon you to unlock prophetic revelation.

“Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.” Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)

I recommend that during this month you take some time to get into a heart of reflection with God. Ask God to show you in prayer if there is anything that is unresolved or needs deeper understanding.

Prayers You Can Pray

Lord, I give up everything that may be weighing on my heart right now. Show me what areas of my heart need to be healed.

Reveal every area of emotional turbulence that is hidden so that it can be healed.

Lord, restore everything that was stolen from me in past seasons by the enemy.

I put my trust in You to drown every place of difficulty and every overarching challenge that seeks to dominate my life.

Let’s go forward anticipating the hand of the Lord upon our hearts and lives this month!
